I have some other books in this series, and I would give them an enthusiastic 5, but this book is a total disappointment. In the other books I have purchased, such as How to Draw 101 Monsters, How to Draw 101 Funny People, and How to Draw 101 Animals, the books present step-by-step boxes showing how the picture is created--simple elements coming together to create a fun picture. In this one, the author simply divides up the final picture and adds a chunk with each square. The fairy's head might be first--but there are no step-by-step directions on how to create it--there is just a completed head. Then the author adds the next chunk of the body, again with no step by step diagrams. This book is totally different from the other three I have seen in the series, and is a complete disappointment. I would not purchase any others in this series without seeing which format is being used.

Yes, it shows the head, then the body, then the wings, etc, but there is no "how to" on drawing each of these steps. The fairies are cute and all, but the point of the book is to learn to draw them. If you trace it, THEN it will work. Hopefully, my 10 year old can figure it out.

Very cute and appealing to girls in grades 1-6. Even though it's paperback, it's a very thick, sturdy cover (size is about 8x11) For only $2 a book, I use these as prizes at school. My 8 year old really wanted one, once she saw my shipment arrive. So I gave in and gave her one. She loves it. Not only does she draw fairies, but she also carefully colors the drawings in the book itself. The book seems like it could easily cost $10 or more.

Purchased this as a gift thinking it would have step by step instructions. It doesn't have any written instructions, just pictures. Usually about 6 for each fairy (starts off with the basic beginning then each picture shows a bit more until you have the complete fairy. My friend liked it okay, but really something with some instructions would have been much better.

This book does not break the drawings down into basic shapes and then add detail like some of the better ones, it simply takes the finished drawing and breaks it down into 3 or 4 steps that don't often make much sense until it's done. Like step one will be draw the ears nose and eyes (no head shape to determine proper placement) it's almost like they just want the kids to trace it and give steps to successfully do that. Disappointing to say the least.

My 7 year old loves to draw, so I got this in hopes it would help her to learn some techniques. The fairies are way too complicated and when I gave it a try myself, the fairy looked deformed and weird. I would say if an adult with average artistic ability couldn't draw the easiest one in the book, they need to do some revision.

This book is a wonderful and simple book on how to draw fairies. The fairies are ultra cute. I drew a couple for my kids and they turned out quite nice. The kids loved the different characteristics of the fairies. A very nice purchase for the price.

I had ordered various 101 books to help teach my 6 yrs old daughter how to draw various things. She has been showing a keen interest in wanting to draw various items and has us guessing what she has drawn lol. She really enjoys these step by step pictures on what to draw next to have the outcome be her desired fairy. Would recommend to anyone as a gift or a great rainy day project. Our kids have great fantasies, help them become more artistic
