My kids (ages 8,6,4) are having a blast with this "How To Draw" book. This is their sixth "How To Draw" book because I saw that they are learning fast and just wanted to give them more option. They also have the cat, dog, funny people and other "How To Draw" books. I just need to be sure I have an abundant supply of paper and pencils for them to draw with. This keeps them busy in a productive way.
Based on several of the other reviews, I feel that most people probably purchase books like this one for small children. As a young adult, I purchased this book after buying some more difficult drawing books that were out of my depth. If you, like me, have absolutely no artistic training or skill, consider picking up some of these books. They are fast, fun, and cheap.
You will love decorating anything and everything with your own drawings of these forest animals. A fun project is to print a photograph of your family with a lot of white space and then surround yourselves with these lovely creatures. This book is a tool that can allow you to express your artistic drive. I use these kinds of books in the classroom. The children gain great confidence with the success they achieve in their first drawings. Additionally this book lives in my collection of cartoons for quick inspiration. I used this particular book to make a rendering of a rain forest for a story I wrote about the AltiPlano in the Andes. I bought many at one time and was given a four for the price of three discount each time. (I don't know if that is always available.) If you ever believed anyone who said you cannot draw, get this book and prove to yourself that you can.
Bought for my daughter as a challenge, and she really likes it. She was a little intimidated at first, but once she finished up a few pictures, she got hooked. Looking forward to the next challenge!

This is okay for young beginners but I have discovered Lee Hammond drawing instructional books and those are so much better (Hammond books help you draw more realistic animals, humans and objects). If you have drawing skills go with Lee Hammond. If you don't have drawing skills then this will get you started but this book won't teach you how to draw exceptional pictures.
Grandson really into nature; now, he has another activity to share with his "art-loving" sister...but, within his realm. Not drawing butterflies, fairies, standard animal fare, but "real" forest animals. It was definitely a good "rainy day" gift.
This item was selected for a granddaughter and given as a gift during the holidays. She seems to love to color the drawings as well as learning how to draw. To my surprise her aunt, an elementary school teacher, likes it even more and wants to make copies of some of the pages before they are colored. I told her where they were purchased and for how much.
