My two year old daughter loves this series of books. The characters are sweet and relatable and words and phrases simple enough for her to memorize but also complex enough for her to learn simple opposites and command words. Boo boo is no exception. My disappointment does not lie in the book itself but in the kindle version. The formatting is all messed up. It only shows one page at a time. it had the words as printed as seen in the book addition but also typed in above the illustrations are the words from the previous page?! It's very odd and a bit confusing. We also have this problem with the Peedie book.
Although I don't like it as much as others in the Gossie series, my 2 year old does! The basic plot is that BooBoo eats a lot. And once day she eats a bubble, and burps out bubbles. And then she stops burping. It's a 4.5 star.
Gossie and Friends features baby geese, also known as goslings, as the main characters of the series of books. The characters include Gossie, Gertie, Ollie, BooBoo, Gideon, Jasper, Joop, Gus, and Gemma. These are Level One readers and perfect for children just learning to read as they are cute stories and easy enough to keep your children engaged and encouraged at reading on their own. In addition to most of the characters having their own books, there are books that feature two of the goslings and seasonal books too, including one for Christmas, Easter, and an upcoming one for Halloween. The stories are also easy to relate to. In Gideon and Otto, we see Gideon going everywhere with his favorite toy Otto, until he loses him one day and has to find him. This is a horror that child and grown up alike can relate to. Jasper and Joop is an odd couple book with one clean gosling and one dirty gosling. Gemma and Gus is a book about siblings. However, my son's favorite of the series (at the moment, because I'm sure it will change more than once) is BooBoo. BooBoo is a lot like my son. He is blue. My son loves the color blue. BooBoo eats all the time. My son is eating me out of house and home. BooBoo ate bubbles. My son loves bubbles. BooBoo burped after eating the bubbles. My son thinks burping is hilarious and tries to imitate the sound, but thankfully hasn't mastered it yet. All the stories are charming and the watercolor illustrations are simple enough that they captivate the young eyes without overpowering them. This is a great beginner's series to read to your child and then have them read to you when they are able to.
Once again I refer you to my review of Ollie the Stomper. Ollie, Peedie and BooBoo should be on the table for every toddler to hold and love. Beautiful books inside and out. I look forward to purchasing more and more.Duck and Goose books should be there also!
Everyone in this house has there own favorite gosling. Mikey loves BooBoo and despite having checked it out from the library dozens of times and having quite a few gosling books of our own he wanted his own BooBoo book so now he has it. BooBoo loves to eat everything which can sometimes get her in trouble...
Do you like food and the color blue? Do you like cute ducklings? Then you should read BooBoo by Olivier Dunrea. I think BooBoo is the best book because she like to eat. Also because she eats bubbles and she says good food to almost everything. She eats from morning till night. I like BooBoo because she eats a bubble. She says good food to almost everything. So go get BooBoo and read it. (Written by 1st grade student - Alison)
We are addicted to these books and can't stop buying them. The funny thing is, all of the books have a certain "formula" to them, but you don't care because all of the goslings are so incredibly darling and endearing. Go ahead and buy them all, because let's face it, you are going to eventually. Gossie and Friends forever!
These books (Gossie and Friends) are wonderful! So impressed with the first one we got that we bought all of them! Strongly recommend these books. Great to get a little person interested in reading!
