A Short Tale About A Long Dog #2 (Here's Hank)

Here's Hank stars the same Hank as in the bestselling Hank Zipzer series, only this time he's in 2nd grade! Hank is a kid who doesn't try to be funny, but he somehow always makes the kids in his class laugh. He's pretty bad at memorizing stuff, and spelling is his worst subject. (But so are math and reading!) In the second book in this new series, Hank has finally persuaded his dad to get the family a dog, and Hank couldn't be more excited! Mesmerized by a little wiener dog chasing his tail (making him look like a Cheerio) at the animal shelter, Hank declares him to be the new Zipzer dog. But when Cheerio gets loose in the park, Mr. Zipzer furiously announces that the dog must go. Can Hank convince his father that he wasn't the one who let Cheerio off his leash, or will he really lose his new pet and best friend?

My daughter has dyslexia and she really identifies with Hank. Even though Hank doesn't know he has a learning disability she really see's the similarities with her and him. The stories are funny and age appropriate. She is a reluctant reader and she will sit and read these. I hope they write more adventures of 2nd grade hank!

My grandson has had difficulty reading so I bought 2 of the Hank books for him. He really enjoys this book and is reading so much better. Thank you Henry Winkler. These books are making a hugh difference in my grandson's self confidence and his ability to read. Because he is reading better, all of his school subjects are improving. I will continue to buy these books for him.

My grandson is a reluctant reader and school recommended a scheduled reading time over the summer. His teacher mentioned the 'Here's Hank' series. He has read the first wanted to start the second. He enjoys the story and his reading fluency has improved. .

My first grader really enjoyed this book!! It contains a lot of words he doesn't yet know and he is an above average reader (although he doesn't love to read). I read a few lines out loud to him and then he reads the same lines back to me (which I just learned in a summer reading class I took with him this past, is very beneficial when the words are at least of moderate difficulty). This has worked well and I'm happy to say that he was so excited to move on to the next chapter that he would get the book off the shelf on his own, without prompts from me! This was our first real "chapter" book and this author made it an enjoyable and smooth transition!!

My 7 year old granddaughter is dyslexic but is in what they are calling an accelerated reader program in 1st grade. She was so thrilled when I gave her this, her first chapter book! It is so entertaining, and she can't wait to read the next one! Highly recommend.

Love this series of books! Thank you, thank you Henry Winkler & Lin Oliver for the series and the Dyslexie font! As a volunteer in a 2nd grade reading class, I found that this series offers so much encouragement for young readers who have dyslexia to read. They loved the story. It was easier for them to read and It made us all chuckle at Hank's antics! .

Got these Hank books for our 8 - 9 year old Grandson who did not like to read.... now you can't stop him.... he even woke up two hours early before the school bus came in order to read more chapters.... these Hank books by Henry Winkler and their special Font have opened up a whole new world for our Grandson..... Thank you Fonzie...... Get these books, you will not be disappointed even if your child is an avid reader... Highly Recommended to all.....

I read chapters from this series for my son every night. He loves the characters and he can't wait until he finds out what's next. He's in first grade and could read them by himself, but we enjoy these together. I love them too!
