My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!
My 2 year old son loves this book. He is intrigued by horses, so I thought I would take the opportunity to try to teach him a little bit about them in a nonfiction book. He listens to me read it to him and likes looking at the photos and kisses the pony photos. I know a lot of it is over his head, but I like exposing him to nonfiction books to help teach him things here and there. I really like all of the National Geographic Kids books.
Great pictures and good quality. My son loves to look through it. Pretty quick read for the young ones. My son stays captivated through about half of it before his two year old mind is off to the next book.
National Geographic Kids books are great. The illustrations and photographs are amazing and the information they provide is set up in a way that keeps your children engaged and interested. They have small paragraphs and pop out boxes of facts over beautiful photographs and illustrations, instead of just a boring block of text. My girls love them and we have amassed quite a collection. This particular book is about Ponies. What kid doesn't love horses and ponies? They talk about many things including the types of ponies, their colors and markings, riding and caring for a pony, and babies. My 6 year old loves learning the facts and reading the books while my 3 year old loves the pictures, especially the baby pictures. My 6 year old's kindergarten teacher has suggested more non-fiction books and these are perfect. We have purchased many of the National Geographic Kids books for our collection and they are a big hit in our house. There are so many different books with various subjects that will appeal to any kid. These are highly recommended. If you haven't already, do your kids a favor and start their collection today.
We raise paints and quarter horses and our granddaughter loves ponies. This was a perfect book for her to have at the "farm", but I'll have to buy another copy because this one went home with her!
I picked up this little paperback for my girlfriend's 4-year-old during a brief visit I paid them. She had me read it to her two or three times and loved all the pictures. When I was a kid, I had a subscription to zoobooks, and I learned so much from them I was hoping to find a suitable alternative for this kiddo. National Geographic isn't quite as good as I remember Zoobooks to be, but it does pretty well.
I rode horses and competed in events when I was growing up. Horses and taking car of horses teaches kids so much about themselves, nature, mankind. Got this to teach my child the very basics about horses. As always, this series is very well done.
My daughter, who is now six, LOVES these books. The photos are very colorful, the information is clear and concise. She can read a lot of the text. National Geographic does a great job with this series of books for the new reader. This pony book is a favorite of my horse-crazed little girl!
