Most blank books sold at this price are professionally bound hardcover books. I was so surprised to get paper stapled together. I could have done this myself at home. Not happy at all.
This book is about the size of an 11x17 page folded in half. The inside pages are blank white paper, like good-quality photocopy paper. The outside is thick, glossy white paper. The book is staple-bound. The ideal use would be for kids to write illustrated stories for Young Author projects, etc. You'd have to be careful of the cover, though. Permanent markers would be the best. Crayola-type markers would be inclined to smear until they dry. I'm not sure that colored pencils/crayons would do well on the cover.
I was under the impression it was a pack of 12 but only 3 came. I'm not sure if the others ever will.
This little booklet is cute enough, though it's really only a few pages. It seems if I had a stapler and paper I could make it myself, but it only cost a dollar. Probably not worth the packaging. If I could do this purchase again I'd instead buy the stapler necessary to staple in the middle of pages and make a DIY book.
My 6 year old son loved to write his first book, Cakeland. I was a bit disappointed in the cover's glossy finish as it could only take permanent markers. We don't have a large variety, so he had a black and white cover. At $1.12 each, my kids asked for 5 more each to write a little library.
The cover was disappointing, it had a rip in it because it was packed with other items and it was made of an extremely high gloss paper which will be impossible to draw on to create a cover. Tge description also says 16 pages, which really means 8 pages front & back. The quality was good however as well as the size.
I thought this book would be a nice hardcover book and I opened the package to find a small paper-thin and paperback "book." I was so disappointed, I had ordered more of them which I immediately canceled afterwards. Now I see why it was so cheap, and I'm glad it was because I wouldn't want to have wasted more money on this rip-off.
I used these as party favors and they were a big hit. Great for young kids (my daughter's in kindergarten) to start making their own books. The only down side is that the covers are a shiny surface which makes them durable but difficult for kids to write on with anything other than a sharpie and even sharpie doesn't adhere all that well.
