This Book of Bounces is full of creative ideas for parents/carers to explore with babies and todlers. During this period it is crucial that meaningful musical experiences are introduced. John Feierabend has put this wonderful collection together. I give this book to my friends who become grandparents.
This is a great book of old school baby bounces. The problem is that I was looking for something easy to use and bounces easy to remember. Perhaps just to jog my memory on rhymes from childhood. This one has lots of bounces but almost none of them are things I remember from childhood and many use unfamiliar and unused terms for today. I was hoping to use this to easily entertain my baby but the truth is it's just sitting on the coffee table because I don't really have the time to memorize a bunch of bounces I've never heard before.
This book did not have much music in it, mostly chants. Many of the songs were repeated as alternate versions. As a music teacher I would like to see more variety in the music and more songs to sing.
I bought this book for two of my music students I had In Okinawa, Japan. They are both grown,married,sisters and are expecting very soon. I thought they needed to carry on their love of music with their child so I am sending this book and three others by John Feierabend for a baby present - especially since I can't be there in person.
