I originally bought the tapes and now getting the cd. I bought these for Girl Scouts. I had homemade song books from other leaders, but only knew the tunes to some of the songs. I bought this collection and several others. Used the songs for meetings, camp singalongs, and in the car. Girl Scouts sing their grace and the books have many of the old rounds that are used for sing grace.I remembered singing many of these songs. People tend to think of them as children's songs but they are not. They were originally sung by everybody. Folk song are our musically heritage. I like being able to pass some of that along to my children and others. This cd and book has many songs that are fun to sing. Most kids like to sing. Most folk tunes are easy to sing, so everybody can singalong and enjoy.

This is a copy/paste of a review that I wrote for another Wee Sing product that I bought at the same time. Please rest assured that the review holds true for this and all Wee Sing products. When I was a child, road trips were a summertime ritual. The Wee Sing cd's (tapes at the time) were a large portion of the soundtrack of my summers. If we were going nuts in the car, my mother would pop in a Wee Sing tape and we were suddenly glued to our seats singing along with the tape. As we learned to read, we learned to use the book that came with the tape if it had survived the three of tugging at it. As we got older, we lost or forgot about the tapes. My first niece was born early this spring, and one of the first things that popped into my head was that she HAD to have the Wee Sing's. This was part of the first of what I hope will be many that she owns. The appeal of the songs has a wide age range; while it is appropriate for my newborn niece to listen to in the car, it also makes an excellent tool for my wife's 5th grade social studies class. I am so excited that this series is still around and growing!

I've been listening to these songs on and off since I was about 6 years old. I am now 28 and a foster mother, and bought this on CD to share with my foster daughter. I am hoping that she will come to love these songs as much as my sister and I did growing up! They may not all be the most "professional sounding" songs, as another reviewer noted, but that's part of why I love them - they are sung the way that regular people might sing them. Get a whole bunch of us around a campfire and we don't care if we're on key all the time or not!My daughter thinks it's great that I can sing them without needing the book... which unfortunately brings me to the only downside of my purchase - some of the songs are missing from the book! There are 6 or 7 songs that are on the CD and listed in the index, but appear as blank pages in the book. I will be requesting another from the manufacturer shortly. (I didn't feel it was bad enough to knock a star off, but some might.)

I bought this cd for my son to listen to in the car.Pros:1. It's a good selection of songs that are fun for kids to sing.2. You get a lot of songs for your money on this cd (30+ tracks, although some of the songs are short.)Cons:1. Most of the songs are sung by a group of kids, and they are *always* gratingly out of tune on the higher notes. I suppose it would be charming at a kids concert or something that you'll listen to every so often, but not for a cd that I have on repeat in the car.2. It's also hard to tell what the words are from the singing alone. The cd does come with a book, though, if you want to look them up.Overall, it was probably worth the money, but I don't think I'll be buying any more Wee Sing. I plan to get some of the Nancy Cassidy kid collections instead.

Our entire family loves this CD/song book set!!! I raised my daughters with this music, and I just bought two for my grandchildren. Music is a wonderful way to help your baby and children develop. It is very healing for children who are struggling, and it is such a happy collection of great songs. These songs are easy to learn, and you just can't help singing along with the music. This is a toe tapping, hand clapping set of songs! The songs are great folk music, and it's wonderful that this American culture will not be forgotten. We will keep our great American Folk music and culture alive through this music!

We have several of the Wee Sing tapes/CDs, and this one is probably my favorite. It's full of what you might think of as campfire songs. Lots of fun for singing together as a family, or a scout troop, on a camping trip, in the car, etc. These are classic sing-along songs for all ages, and sound great with guitar if you have someone who can play guitar chords.

this is a great cd sung by both children and adults, but the singing by the children isn't your typical whiny, off key, crappy school recital singing. these kids can actually sing! and the songs are really cute too. my 3 year old son loves to sing along. excellent for car trips or just dancin' at home. great purchace, best kids cd by far!

Every child should know the traditional songs that have formed the foundation of American folk music. This is just the collection to do that. Filled with all the traditional folk songs like Wabash Cannonball, Polly Wolly Doodle, Ol' Joe Clark, Big Rock Candy Mountain, as well as just plain-old fun songs like Frog Went a-Courtin' and Bought Me a Cat. The music is nicely paced, bright and engaging performances, any child would want to sing along. We played this in the car all the time for our boys growing up and now I bought two for our granddaughter--one for her dad's car and one for Grandma's house.
