I purchased this coloring book for my mother while she was in rehab at a nursing home. The book was a huge hit - everyone wanted to color with her, even the aides! They asked me where I bought them so they could buy more for the other residents for Christmas gifts. My mom shared pages with the other ladies and they all enjoyed talking about the fashions and what they remembered about the former first ladies. They even posted them on their bulletin boards to be admired by everyone! For seniors with a lot of time on their hands this book was wonderful!
This is a great coloring book! The gowns/dresses are fun to color, detailed and varied. The only caution I have is that not all of the 1st Ladies are pictured in gowns. Some are pictured in streetwear. But it is still a fantastic book and great fun. Dates and details are listed about each 1st Lady and her gown. It is great fun and very accurate. Snap this one up!
Covers all the First Ladies and a dress they wore for the Inaguaration or other more formal occasion including history of the lady and her dress. It is in cronological order with very good historical information, educational and fun.
This book was purchased for my elderly mother. It has quickly become one of her favorite coloring books. The pictures have enough details to make in challenging without being too intricate and/or causing too muchy angst for anyone with old or bad eyes.
My mom is 78 and in the nursing home. She loves to color to keep her mind busy so I ordered her this adult coloring book. She loves it and it's not so childish like other coloring books are. This book gives you a little history lesson along with fun. Thanks, !
My artistic child enjoyed this coloring book but she did say that she wished there had been a color guide so she could be authentic with the colors of the gowns. She remembers visiting the Smithsonian years ago as a very young child and seeing the inaugural dresses of the first ladies and wanted to duplicate those. We decided that some of the dresses in this coloring book were not the inaugural dresses and that pacified her to an extent. She ended up enjoying this coloring book very much and did a really good job with it. I would think this type of coloring book would be a good thing to use for the substitute teacher folder when teachers have to take unexpected leave from work. I could see it working well in art or maybe history.
Bought this for my 9 yr old granddaughter, along with some colored pencils, and markers. She loves figuring out what colors to use on the various dresses and spends alot of time making them "just right".
Great coloring book. The information given on each First Lady is fascinating... I do wish they had more illustrations of the gowns. This is one time I would like to duplicate the picture rather than guess at the colors. It is a wonderful walk through American History and the change in fashions from the beginning of our country....and, as always, adult coloring is really fun and relaxing.
