Halloween is fast approaching, and all the ghouls and ghosts are soon to be among us. What better way to scare them little buggers but to have a realistic skeleton hanging by your front door? I came across this wonderful book many months ago, but didn't have the 'guts' to actually try to make it. Boy, when I got started I was SURPRISED. This book made the most realistic skeleton I have ever seen! (Short of a REAL one of course.) You have to remember that this is made entirely of PAPER. That's more difficult than you think. All my friends are envious. All the neiborhood children run scared. My children, being the wierd type that they are, call him Gus. If you're tired of all those flimsy, flat, or not-so-real-looking skeletons out there, and you really want something that NO ONE ELSE HAS, Get this book. Put it together with your family, get a few friends involved, and get ready to have a LOT of fun!
Not only am I learning about the skeleton but also about paper craft, the many ways things can be put together. This is a very time consuming project, I hope I will actually finish it. Even if I do not complete the skeleton the process is proving fun and educational.
I couldn't find an age level on this book. My 5th grader and I are making this for a school project. I am finding the directions a little difficult to follow. There are over 200 pieces to cut out and glue together. While it does look very cool, it is extremely time consuming. I don't know that a "rainy day" is enough time to construct this. Maybe if you have several children (and adults) helping out...
