I was pleasantly surprised with this coloring book, as I expected a dry coloring book full of pets staring straight into the camera. Turns out, there are actually a lot of dynamic poses such as kittens playing with yarn or dogs cuddling each other, something that a lot of artists seem to have trouble with. The grayscale itself is easy to color over and enhances the coloring experience rather than detracting from it as it is not too light and not too dark to work with.The one thing I was most worried about initially was the paper quality that I knew would suffer due to the printer, and so I was afraid my colored pencils wouldn't layer the way I'm used to. After actually trying it though, it seems they layer just fine, so it doesn't lose a star for the paper quality as I thought it would. One thing worth noting, however, is that since the paper quality is a little less than ideal, certain materials such as markers may bleed. The drawings are only on one side of each sheet to adjust for this, so if you put a piece of paper or cardboard directly behind the drawing you're coloring, it should be fine and not bleed through onto the next drawing.Also, as a warning to anyone who possibly has a mail deliverer who is as stupid as mine is: this book is very flexible. While it was packaged in nice, sturdy cardboard, our mail deliverer still decided that since it was possible to bend, that he should, and he rolled it up and forced it into our mailbox, which has left a permanent crease in my copy. This is neither the fault of the author, the printer, nor of itself, but of my mail deliverer. I'm only pointing it out in case the one reading this has a similar problem with their mail delivery person.
