My granddaughter saw her first opera at two and has been saying "Brava, Bravo!" since. We have enjoyed reading this book to find the instruments, the costumes, the parts of the stage and the stories that show what it's all about. I found this at the Glimmerglass Opera gift shop. I'd suggest each opera gift shop offer them for sale. Grandparents can abridge as needed to keep interest until one day the children are on their own. The illustrations and the organization of subjects make it easy to do. I am thrilled to have found this book.
This is a wonderful introduction to the opera for children! It covers everything from the plots of the best-known operas to the jobs of the stage manager and general director. The history of the opera is also included. My two-year-old loves the opera (I know, weird, right), and this is her favorite book! I've learned quite a lot, too. I highly recommend this book to anyone (young our old) who is beginning to learn and love opera!
This book is a wonderful book to explain to children both the backstage world as well as the performer world! Definitely recommend it
best intro opera for anybody
