My baby loved this book from 3 months on. She loves when we sing the suggested verses to her and really relates to the watercolour illustrations of the other babies inside.
I was hoping this would be an illustrated version of the song, but it's just pictures of what you could do if you're "happy and you know it." And some are strange...like "hold on tight" with a picture of a scared little kid? How is that happy? The whole song only appears on the back cover.Needless to say, my daughter doesn't care for this at all. The illustrations are cute, but it's not really much of book or a song. We LOVE "Head, Shoulders, Knees, Toes" by the same, so this was a bit of a bummer.
One of my boys' favorite Annie Kubler books! I'd recommend it for little ones around 10mos-2.5yrs. My boys love acting out everything as we go- we have a stash of her books of nursery rhymes and typically do 4-5 in a sitting. Keeps their attention and again, is great for active learners!
These are wonderful books. Just be aware that the pages can stick together and be very difficult to come apart, especially when exposed to humidity. If you decide to was them or store them be sure to put something between the pages to keep this from happening.
I bought my son Head Shoulders Knees and Toes for his first birthday and it is one of his favorite books. So, I purchased this for him because I thought he would like it as well. He does enjoy it but Head Shoulders Knees and Toes is still his favorite.
I appreciate Annie Kubler's diverse illustrations of babies in all of her books. This book is full of all the things babies and toddlers can do if they are happy. It is a fun book of movement and mimicry.
A much appreciated gift for 8 mo. old baby. "He loves his 'If You're Happy and You Know It' book already!", Mom wrote in her thank you note sent with a very happy baby picture!
Its one of my granddaughter's favorite stories. I always check books out of the library and read to her. If she likes it, then I purchase it. Its an old song that we all remember when we were kids. The book is perfect for babies. She loves chewing on the pages, they are thick and not sharp, so its okay as she learns to sit and listen to the story.
