Guess I should have taken the phrase Music Player literally when deciding to order. I was disappointed when my 2 year old granddaughter put the first cd in, pushed play and we heard the music only, no lyrics. The book is colorful and the lyrics are printed inside, but if you want to hear the actual songs, don't waste your money.
My daughter loves this book. So much so that it has replaced her "go to" books for all daytime activities (she has a separate shelf for nighttime reading). This book comes with 4 discs and about 20 or so songs (some much long than others). Although she cannot read the lyrics yet, she loves to look at the pictures and has already learned which pages go with the corresponding song. It also teaches proper eye-hand coordination as she has had to learn how to place the disc in the player properly to get it to work. It will eat through some batteries, but they are easy enough to change. One con: no volume control. Still, highly recommended. THIS IS NOT A BOARD BOOK.
I was disappointed in this item. When I put the music disks in sometimes they play and sometimes they don't. Sometimes you will hear the music for 30 seconds then nothing. This is very frustrating for my 17 month old grandson. I am going to return it
My son always wants to change the CDs in our car so I thought this would be a good Christmas gift for him (age 3). It was a huge success. My only complaint is that once you remove the player and the CDs, the book is very awkward to hold and there is no good way of storing the player and CDs. To solve this problem I sewed up a little bag with pockets for my son to carry the player and CDs around together and he loves it.
I thought maybe it was a fluke that the reviews that stated one of the CD's songs were a duplicate of another, but this was also true with my book/CD. Too bad, because the songs that were omitted/not copied to a CD included the Sesame Street theme song. I'm not going to return this, either, because it's probably too much trouble, and my daughter is too young to operate the player. She just enjoys the songs that we do have. I was disappointed, though, that it is a defective product, and that only 4 Sesame Street songs are in the book. The rest are just popular children's songs. We have the Sesame Street 35 years of Songs from the Street, so I was hopeful that there might be some more...Ladybug Picnic, Everybody Sleeps, etc. are not part of this. You'll hear Rubber Duckie, People in the Neighborhood, and C is for Cookie. The Sesame Street theme song is in the book, but not copied to a CD. Hope that helps.
My only dislike is the pages are thin paper and not sturdier board book pages. The songs make my babe bounce with joy, dance with delight, and giggle with glee. She's a bit young for the book itself. The music player and discs are detachable and durable! My 16 month old gives those items a pounding and they keep on rockin! :)
I bought this for a child that was 15 months old. It's a little old for her but in a few more months, it should be perfect. The sound is good and pictures are adorable. I love it and think the child will too in the near future. I would recommend it
This was given to a 15 month old who LOVES this thing. He plays the music all day long and enjoys being able to go to the page the song is playing. He's not yet able to change out the CDs & can only change the tracks. It comes with 4 CDS with a bunch of songs and also batteries which is a great thing to not worry about when giving gifts. The pictures are bright and clear. There are also a few short stories mixed in with the songs.
